Graduate medical education is broken, and it’s time to fix it.

Resident physicians are left powerless and vulnerable to mistreatment by the unfair monopoly created by the NRMP Match. Stripped of negotiation leverage, residents are subject to suppressed wages and toxic working environments that not only compromise their well-being but also their ability to provide quality care. Coupled with the burden of crushing medical school debt and no real lateral mobility, many residents struggle to leave toxic programs.

The Coalition for Residency Reform (CRR) is committed to advocating for the rights of resident physicians and establishing a fair system that empowers them. Our objective is to create an environment that prioritizes the well-being of resident physicians, fosters healthy working conditions, and ensures fair compensation. We aim to dismantle the monopolistic structures that perpetuate burnout and mistreatment, while cultivating a community where residents can thrive both personally and professionally. Together, we will promote a residency system that values the voices of its members and fosters a culture of respect, support, and excellence in medical training.
